From shadow to light: The Launch of PALM Collection, designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte
The design of Jean-Michel Wilmotte meets the savoir faire of Parla, giving life to a collection of furniture characterized by subtle elegance; made up of clean lines, warm materials and extreme attention to finishes.
When Jean-Michel Wilmotte and his studio were looking for a furniture manufacturer that could meet their need to develop a new furniture collection characterized by a coated metal frame for some hospitality projects in the South of France, they crossed paths with us and we proved to be the exact right partner. PALM was born with the intention of creating a line of furniture with a perfect balance between form and function, lightness and discrete elegance appropriate for both outdoor & indoor use. The result: PALM; with its wide range of seats, stools, daybeds and low tables the collection overcomes the boundaries between internal and external spaces, inviting us on a journey.
It took three years to develop the collection which is destined to grow over the years. “Inside, outside: a new praise of the dark” is how Jean-Michel Wilmotte explains the design of PALM pieces with its interplay between light and shadow, accompanied by the sleek lines of the chairs, giving rhythm to the surrounding space.
All the elements making up the collection perfectly combine the tactility of fabrics with the contemporary smooth coating of the metal structure, reminiscent of a raw mineral world, then contrasting with the silkiness of the wood that forms the armrests. The softness of the textile weave flatters the well-thought, layered cushion design. Deep colours such as blue, black, brown and grey, typical compositional codes that characterize Jean-Michel Wilmotte’s design approach are perfectly expressed in PALM.

PALM collection is made up of three lines, Regular, Comfort, and Lounge, each with a wide choice of finishes and materials to provide specifiers with an infinite number of possible combinations for tailor-made, certainly unique creations. Wilmotte studio has worked on the idea of comfort for all the pieces adding soft cushions in a great variety of colours which perfectly blend with the different shades of the metal frame.
