Parla’s know-how has ventured into a new world in hospitality: high-end cruise ships. Since 2022, what started as a new addition to our scope of work, cruise ship projects have quickly become an important and growing part of our portfolio.
Parla has worked with leading names in the cruise industry such as Trimline, MSC, and AIDA, reflecting our ability to adapt to different partners and project scales.
A new milestone and key project in Parla’s journey is our newest project for Oceania Allura by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. For the brand new addition to the fleet, the NCL Leonardo IV cruise ship, accommodating 3,300 guests, Parla delivered bespoke loose furniture and a selection of Collection pieces for public areas.
In essence, cruise ships function as enormous hotels that are constantly on the move at sea. That is exactly why cruise projects demand a specific attention to detail and have their own set of regulatory requirements, different to the standard hospitality projects.
Over time, as Parla, we have developed a strong knowledge of these cruise-specific details.
From the mandatory use of 316-grade stainless steel and marine-grade plywood to fabrics compliant with FR IMO8 standards, every stage of production is carefully aligned with the technical and regulatory expectations of cruise environments.
Cruise ships have successfully cultivated another area of expertise at Parla, as we combine our design sensibility with a deep understanding of highly specific production standards.
Because at sea, it isn’t enough to simply create furniture that looks good. Our bespoke pieces must travel the world, withstand varying conditions and quietly do their job while thousands of guests enjoy the journey.
Honestly, the idea that our bespoke products are constantly travelling and moving across seas has grown on us. So here’s to more cruise projects!
