Project Review: Six Senses, Crans-Montana

January 30, 2025

A luxury getaway in the heights of the Swiss Alps, Six Senses offers an all-around ski experience in the vibrant village of Crans-Montana in Switzerland.

From après-ski to spa services, the chalet-inspired architecture of Six Senses Crans- Montana embodies Alpine sophistication to its core.

The hotel stands out with its prime position, close to the main gondola in Crans-Montana. The location is one of the largest ski areas in the Swiss Alps and can also be enjoyed in all seasons throughout the year. The town is known for its sunshine year-round, situated above the 4000-meter high mountains.

When it comes to the facilities, Six Senses outdoes itself with its 2000 square-meter wellness and spa centre. Biohack Recovery Lounge, Alchemy Bar, nail and hair salon, yoga studio… You name it, Six Senses Crans Montana has it! So, besides the amazing skiing, there are definitely plenty of additional activities visitors can try out during their stay.

In this project, we collaborated with AW² Architecture & Interiors to furnish the public areas, rooms and suites of the hotel. The chalet theme was executed with a contemporary twist: lots of wood and leather with sharp edges and muted colours. We let the wood shine on its own, and complimented it with greys, terracottas and beiges.

Ski resorts often have similar takes on the classic chalet architecture look, but at Six Senses, Parla managed to execute a unique interpretation of chalet style with a variety loose and fixed furniture. We took care of rooms, as well as actual chalets that posed different design challenges.

This was our first project in Switzerland, introducing us to a new market and offering us an opportunity to build our know-how in new ways. Different regulations and a climate of constant snow presented some challenges, but weren’t major enough to leave us without solutions.

Faced with the challenge of snow, we experimented with more durable and out-of-the-box materials for outdoor furniture that would constantly be exposed to snow. Another challenge that the snow brought about for us was related to the logistics, considering the location of this ski heaven.

All in all we learned a lot and over an extended period of time, as this project has been the fruits of 3 years of hard work, as the hotel opened its facilities in multiple phases.

Parla continues to show its versatility when it comes to hotel projects, especially with this exceptional mountain resort project. As usual, we carefully listened to clients and cooperated fully when it came to finding solutions for each unique problem that arose, making this another project we had lots of fun with!

As we enter the ski season, Six Senses Crans-Montana is definitely a favorable project to highlight, as an embodiment of Alpine serenity and a destination to enjoy luxurious comfort at its utmost.
