Project Review: Aqua New York

December 5, 2024

Our latest New York Project is now open!

Aqua New York, a swanky 400 seat 25,000 square-foot restaurant is now serving dishes from two amazing cuisines, contemporary Japanese and Italian.

We worked closely on this project with our repeat client Robert Angell Design International to manufacture and install loose & fixed furniture plus cased goods.

After 18 months of construction the spectacular restaurant joins the booming Flatiron corridor, offering another option for New Yorkers who would like to dine in style.

Aqua Restaurant Group, with acclaimed locations in London, Hong Kong, and Dubai, introduced its first U.S. venture with Hutong in New York. Building on this success, Aqua New York marks the group’s next chapter in delivering vibrant, contemporary dining experiences. Known for its dynamic, innovative menus and striking design, Aqua brings its signature style to the world’s most exciting cities.

Inspired by the Ankh, an ancient Egyptian symbol representing life, Aqua infuses the essence of water and vitality into every location. Due to the vital connection between water and life, their motto is: Where there is water, there is life. Where there is life, you will find us.

The design by Robert Angell and Yeo himself nods to both Italian and Japanese traditions. A soaring tower of hemp rope rises above the huge oval bar installation called Aqua Spirits. A 70-foot-long sushi counter with cushioned seats is said to be the city’s longest. With a beautiful and atmospheric interior scheme plus Parla Bespoke booth seating, dining tables, dining chairs and bar stools that deliver style and comfort, Aqua New York is “the place to be”.
