A celebration of boutique hospital design in the heart of the Big Apple took over Javits Center in Manhattan for two days and we loved being part of it again. Parla’s 4th year at BDNY kicked off with a pre-show cocktail party at Aqua New York, one of our most recent projects in the US. Our guests had a chance to mingle, and see Parla products in the impressive ambiance of Aqua accompanied by its innovative cuisine. It was special to be part of this hospitality fair, as it hosted around 800 exhibitors who each excel in their fields: whether it be lighting, artwork, bedding, furniture or carpet. Basar Bilgin, our US Senior Director, said: “The fair was vibrant and well-attended, with a strong presence of industry professionals and designers.
The Parla booth attracted both new and existing clients, which made us glad to catch up with familiar faces and also content to be able to establish new connections. Our Owner Director Burak Oztuncman said the participation was higher than past years, and that the fair brought in people from all over the US, including a high number of attendees from the West Coast and even Hawaii. Alongside the breathtaking stands, the fair stood out with its designed spaces, all sponsored and curated by internationally known architecture studios and collectives.
Blur Workshop’s vision was to convey the concept of serendipity through design, inspired by the serendipitous encounters one experiences while travelling. Baskervil’s “Salone” invited us into a “modern renaissance of the 15th century Salone” with sexy and bold interiors. Sobremesa, the Spanish after-meal tradition of lazing around a table was Curioso’s inspiration for their conceptual design. Last but not least, Parker-Torres Design’s exploration of “prismatic, multifaceted and lustrous” themes in their concept named Hidden Gem, was an ode to transforming volcanic lava into geodes. The Dine&Design pop-up debuted this year on the trade fair floor. The colour trend of adding a pop of energy with bright & bold colours plus using an updated version of 1960s geometric shapes added a vibrant and playful vibe to the event.
Parla’s booth featured two different rooms, the first one being a seating area including our favorite pieces from the collection: the Loop sofa, Cora armchair and Hug armchair with our brand story being told through an entertaining illustration on the wall, next to a display of our beautiful dining chairs. The other room on our stand featured a bespoke selection of items displaying a bedroom with benches, side tables,headboard, bed and bedding, to give our visitors a glimpse of our versatility. It was really thrilling to be in the midst of the city, getting inspired by the new trends and storylines at BDNY. Our products got a real chance to attract a huge number of people from
around the country, and leave a strong impression for future clients in the US market.
