At Parla we are all about being dynamic and constantly evolving and our CPD Seminars get their share of these approaches also! While expanding our knowledge and know-how, we recognise the importance of sharing our expertise and creating an inviting environment for those seeking new ideas.
Over the years, Parla has developed a good collection of engaging CPD seminars. It is a great pleasure to share knowledge, but it is an even greater pleasure to connect with likeminded individuals in the industry whilst we are delivering these seminars. So, what is CPD?
In our sector, continuing professional development (CPD) is a requirement for architects and interior designers to stay up-to-date and maintain their professional skills + qualifications. CPD activities can be formal or informal and sometimes even include activities such as factory visits and interactive activities.
Whilst our seminars work in line with the training that architects and interior designers are expected to undergo every year, we have made sure that our CPD seminars shed useful and practical information for property developers, specifiers and hotel operators as well. By creating a more inclusive environment, individuals from different sectors of hospitality get a chance to network and understand one another’s work.
Parla’s current collection includes 3 CPD seminars, all addressing vital parts of hospitality
interiors.

PVD Coating
This seminar aims to help industry fellows gain an understanding of the method and its uses. Physical Vapor Deposition is a technique which allows vaporizing a solid material in a vacuum environment and depositing it as a pure material or alloy composition coating onto substrates. It sounds complicated, right? In our seminar, we aim to refine the explanation of PVD in an engaging way, and talk about its origins, its uses, its benefits and how you can make use of it in your projects. By the end of the seminar, the attendees have a sufficient grasp on PVD coating to implement it in their projects. By understanding its technology, attendees also get a better idea of its links to sustainability and its benefits.

WORKSPITALITY
Workspitality is all about merging workspaces with hospitality elements. The intersection of both fields creates an environment of productivity, comfort and vibrancy. Major cities like London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Barcelona have hopped on the trend to become hotspots of this culture, attracting digital nomads, freelancers, entrepreneurs and corporate teams. Last June, we went to Boecker’s showroom in Berlin to deliver our workspitality seminar, which was presented by Aysel İlisik, Head of Designer Relations. She shared live examples and ideas about this growing trend, engaging with the audience to create conversation. Parla is new to workspitality projects, but we have been growing our portfolio and are eager to dive into this world even more.

MATERIALS: The Highs and Lows
This seminar presented an opportunity to explore the challenges and solutions when specifying materials for bespoke furniture. Aysel recently delivered this seminar at the Cosentino City showroom in Paris taking the audience through a presentation full of tricks of the trade, what to avoid, and what to be aware of when specifying materials. Talking about this subject helps build bridges between designers, project managers, hoteliers and procurement companies, while establishing a better understanding between each other. The knowledge gained from this type of seminar can help parties manage their expectations better, construct requests accordingly and emphasize, facilitating a smoother process in bespoke projects. The seminar covered fabric, foam, wood, metal and marble. At this seminar in Paris, Cosentino was a major example when it came to natural stone and its alternatives, which was also covered in detail in the seminar. All presentations run for around 45-minutes and Aysel’s background in product design and project management provides valuable expertise to answer any questions the attendees might pose. She is an excellent public speaker, making her presentations fun and engaging.
In 2025 we will be developing another seminar to add to our portfolio of CPDs, so watch this space!
