Hotel Amano Covent Garden is a beautiful transformation of a 1980s office building called Drury House. The new 141 room hotel is in a very good location and is continuing the Berlin based hotelier The Amano Group’s motto of “enabling their guests to enjoy beautifully designed spaces in the best city centre locations, and all at a fair price”.
Hotel Amano Covent Garden ticks lots of boxes and we think that the £49 million project’s results are inspiration enough for other companies to transform unsightly 80s and 90s office buildings.
We were thrilled to be part of this project; not only because it was the first hotel interior we worked on with this hotelier, but also because it was our first UK hotel project where we have helped furnish both bedrooms and public spaces, plus in London!
We worked alongside Woods Bagot Studio’s London branch, helping them achieve a result that encompasses a feeling of serenity whilst emphasising the buzz of one of London’s most iconic neighbourhoods. Pulling together natural elements such as aged bronze, polished brass and marble with fabrics from Kvadrat and JAB this project meant we not only created bespoke pieces, but also included items from our own collections.
From the rooms, to the rooftop bar to the upcoming signature restaurant, Parla’s touch is everywhere; and maybe more so when sitting comfortably in one of our Capri Bar Stools at the Rooftop Bar, sipping a cocktail and enjoying the panoramic view of iconic London buildings. This semi open air rooftop bar, which is a new addition to the building is definitely the first destination to start a summer evening in London.
The challenge we addressed in this project was to make sure we designed and manufactured pieces of furniture that did not take up too much space but were as practical as larger pieces, without compromising on comfort. As a company that thrives
on solving design problems, this project gave us new perspectives on designing and manufacturing for city centre spaces.
Hotel Amano looks to become ‘the place’ for many a decadent weekend, and how exciting that our creations will be there to silently witness the fun and frolics of the latest hot spot!
